Circular Sight Glass
Product Description
Sight Glass with Hole is a circular glass viewing disc manufactured with one or more accurately machined openings. It is installed in tanks, pipelines, reactors, vessels, flow indicators and other industrial equipment to provide direct visual observation of liquids, gases or internal process conditions.
The hole may be positioned in the center for a mechanical wiper, shaft or cleaning device. Off-center holes and multiple-hole configurations can also be produced for sensors, fasteners, lighting components or equipment-specific mounting requirements.
Glass material is selected according to the operating temperature, thermal cycling, process medium and mechanical requirements. Borosilicate glass is commonly used for industrial pressure-duty applications because of its low thermal expansion and good chemical resistance. Soda-lime glass is suitable for moderate-temperature service, while aluminosilicate and quartz glass are available for more demanding thermal conditions.
The outer diameter, thickness, hole diameter, hole position and edge finish can be manufactured according to drawings or samples. Glass surfaces can be ground and polished to maintain clear visibility, while the outer and inner edges can be ground, polished or chamfered to reduce sharp edges and improve installation safety.

Sizes
Sight Glass with Hole can be produced in outer diameters from approximately 10 mm to 420 mm and thicknesses from 1 mm to 30 mm. Larger or thicker discs can be evaluated according to the application and manufacturing requirements.
A 10.5 mm central hole is commonly used for mechanical wiper systems. Other hole diameters, off-center openings and multiple-hole arrangements are available according to customer drawings.
