Gauge Glass Tubes
Product Description
Quartz Glass Tube is manufactured from high-purity fused quartz containing at least 99.9% SiO₂. Compared with soda-lime and borosilicate glass tubes, it offers significantly higher temperature resistance, lower thermal expansion and better resistance to rapid temperature changes.
Its linear thermal expansion coefficient is approximately 0.55 × 10⁻⁶/K, allowing the tube to undergo heating and cooling with a lower risk of thermal-shock failure. The material is suitable for continuous operation at approximately 1050°C and short-term use at higher temperatures, subject to tube dimensions, mechanical load, atmosphere and installation conditions.
Quartz glass also provides good transmission through ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared wavelengths. Clear quartz tubes are therefore widely used in UV lamps, heating equipment, optical instruments, laboratory apparatus and semiconductor processing systems.
The material resists water, most acids and many process chemicals. However, quartz glass is attacked by hydrofluoric acid, and hot concentrated phosphoric acid should also be avoided. Surface contamination by alkalis, salts or metallic particles can accelerate devitrification during high-temperature service.

Kunyo supplies clear and opaque quartz tubes in standard or custom dimensions. Tubes can be cut, fire-polished, ground, bent, sealed or fabricated with open ends, closed ends and other configurations according to drawings or samples.
Key Features and Advantages
High Temperature Resistance
Quartz glass tubes are suitable for continuous service at approximately 1050°C. Their high softening point—around 1665°C—makes them suitable for applications beyond the operating limits of conventional glass.
Excellent Thermal-Shock Resistance
The low thermal expansion coefficient of approximately 0.55 × 10⁻⁶/K minimizes dimensional change during heating and cooling, reducing the risk of cracking under rapid temperature variations.
High Chemical Purity
With a typical SiO₂ content of ≥99.9%, fused quartz introduces minimal contamination into laboratory, semiconductor and high-temperature processing systems.
Good Chemical Resistance
Quartz glass offers reliable resistance to water, most acids and many neutral process media. This makes it suitable for demanding laboratory and industrial environments.
Optical Transmission
Clear quartz glass transmits ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared light, making it suitable for UV sterilization, lighting, spectroscopy, heating and optical equipment.
Custom Fabrication
Outside diameter, inside diameter, wall thickness and length can be produced according to application requirements. Cutting, polishing, bending, sealing, drilling and end forming are available upon request.
Technical Specifications
*The actual allowable temperature depends on tube diameter, wall thickness, mechanical load, atmosphere, surface cleanliness and service duration. Prolonged exposure above approximately 1000°C may accelerate devitrification.
Sizes
Quartz glass tubes are available in a broad range of outside diameters, inside diameters, wall thicknesses and lengths.
Common industrial sizes:
Outside diameter: 2–300 mm.
Lengths: 100 to 2000 mm.
Small-diameter tubes, thick-wall tubes and larger custom diameters can also be supplied after technical review.
