Gauge Glass Tubes
Product Description
Soda-lime glass tube is a transparent and economical glass tubing solution manufactured primarily from silica, sodium oxide, and calcium oxide. Its good optical clarity allows liquids, gas flow, filling levels, and internal components to be observed directly.
Compared with borosilicate and quartz tubes, soda-lime tubing is easier and more economical to manufacture in large quantities. It can be cut, fire-polished, printed, coated, bent, and processed into different lengths and shapes. These characteristics make it suitable for general industrial components, display tubes, packaging, decorative products, low-temperature liquid observation, and other applications that do not require high thermal-shock resistance.
Typical soda-lime glass has a coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 8.6–9.1 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹, considerably higher than that of borosilicate glass. It should therefore not be exposed to direct flame or rapid heating and cooling. The material’s softening point of approximately 685–720°C is a manufacturing property and should not be interpreted as its safe continuous operating temperature.
For practical applications, soda-lime glass tubes are recommended mainly for ambient or moderate-temperature service. The final permissible temperature, pressure, and thermal variation must be determined according to the tube diameter, wall thickness, length, end condition, installation method, and operating medium.

Key Features and Advantages
Clear visual observation The transparent glass wall enables direct viewing of liquids, gas flow, filling levels, and internal components.
Economical material choice Soda-lime glass offers a cost-effective solution for general-purpose and high-volume applications.
Easy to process Tubes can be cut, fire-polished, ground, printed, coated, bent, or assembled according to the application.
Good dimensional flexibility Different outer diameters, wall thicknesses, and lengths can be produced to match customer drawings or samples.
Smooth and non-porous surface The glass surface is easy to clean and does not absorb odors or ordinary liquids.
Good resistance to many common media Suitable for water, oils, weak acids, and many general liquids when operating conditions are properly controlled.
Multiple appearance options Clear tubing is standard, while colored, frosted, printed, or coated versions can be supplied upon request.
